Hatrick Win for Techies as Sudesh and Kris see Techies Home

October 3, 2016- Much to the delight of the spectators, the weather gods relented as rain, lashed the Powerade ground throwing a question mark over the much anticipated Guardians/Techies annual cricket match on Saturday, which finally stopped thus delaying the toss and compelled the umpires to reduce the game to 12 over per side.
Guardians had commanded respect and for a fleeting moment, they even invited hope among their long suffering supporters but at the end of Powerade test it was once again a familiar tale of defeat.
Techies captain Graham Moulding lucky to win the toss send the opposition to bat first knowing that it would not be easy to score runs on a wet outfield. Yet guardians put up a massive total of 107 for 2 in 12 over, thanks to their star batsman Srimantha Wijeyeratne (Under 19 player for Canadian Cricket Team) scored an unbeaten 85 with 10 fours and 4 sixes supporting him on the opposite end was Syed Ali (11) and Ashim Saha (3)
With Guardians total at an asking rate above 8.91 per over (their highest average so far), the techies should have been under pressure but opening partner brothers Sudesh and Kris slowly tightened the grip towards victory. Techies won the tournament with 10 wickets in 11 overs. With pitch being wet the bowlers did not have much to gain as only 2 wickets fell in the whole tournament.

Earlier Guardians cherished a 2-1 victory in an outstanding soccer tournament against Techies which was introduced for the first time and has been decided for every annual tournament.
Neville Boston captain of Guardian said he was proud of his team to show their excellence. The scorer from guardians was Priotosh and Jalal whilst Ramesh scored the only goal for techies. Officiating the laws of the game was Sean O’Brien who judged that the game is played by the rules.
The tournament was later completed with a game for kids and ladies our special thanks to Shodhan Nadkarni & Mihir Das for organizing and conducting those games.
