Services nose ahead toward victory in 3rd Annual SMS Cricket League Tournament

Services 133 for 3 (Kumar 50 not out) beat Systems 132 for 6 (Imran Khan 67 not out), by seven wickets

Services showed they are focused on finishing their game on a positive note as they warmed-up for the 3rd Annual Cricket Tournament with a comfortable seven-wicket win, and had 9 balls to spare, in the Twenty20 at Kennedy Powerade Centre Brampton. As expected, Kumar provided the fireworks in the run chase with a crackling onslaught, before Waseem played a measured hand.

Chandrika in his first over gave Systems hope with an early wicket of opener Adan from Services. Shodan’s clever bowling very well supported by captain Imran Khan was quick to stump Waseem and take a stunning catch of Tasnim.

Ramesh and Graham bowled few economical overs which restricted Services from finishing the target earlier. These were the only highlights of Systems as they lacked throughout the innings with sloppy fielding, dropped catches and giving away extra runs as wide ball, the second highest scorer for Services was Mr. Extras (40 runs).

Imran Khan captain of Systems won the toss and chose to bat first, proved himself to be a gutsy player as he prevented a total collapse for System, his patient knock of 67 runs with five 4’s and five 6’s battled the entire 20 overs and remained not out which earned him the prize for Best batsman and highest number of 6’s. Systems response was composed but rarely explosive, as Imran adjusted to the pace of the pitch, debutant Michael Patterson picked up the tempo of 20 runs until a carefree assault on Adnan was caught by Ashim.

Systems capitulation continued as their middle-order seldom ignited, they all failed in quick succession. Manicam to follow showed some signs of fight by scoring 11 runs which included one 6 and one four helped systems to reach a modest total of 132 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs which but was stumped by keeper Waseen with a slow delivery from Mosharaf.

Man of the Match award was caped to Kumar Nath for his unbeaten knock of 50 runs which was infact the turning point for Services. Best Bowling was awarded to Syed Jalal, and Best Fielding to Priotush

Raja Janjua the cool captain of Services believed that it was a victory built on team – unity and togetherness. He was also modest to comment that “Whether it is System or Services the trophy is still at Security Management”.

The crowd cheered the victory of services, once again witnessed the fair game with a close battle between the two teams. We thank all the family members who volunteered their time and were committed to help which was very inspiring to watch.

Security Management thanks all our sponsors - ADI Burtek, Tried, Keyscan, Tevelec, BD Printers, Watchnet and VEL Insurance agency for their continuous generous support in order to make this tournament a successful event.
